Timmy (Tianyi) Wang

Timmy (Tianyi) Wang is a Toronto-based musician currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Classical Tuba Performance at the University of Toronto. With seven years of experience on the tuba, Timmy began his formal music education at Newton’s Grove School in Mississauga, Ontario, where he studied under music director John Alonso and participated in annual concerts and international tours, including a performance tour in Cuba.

An active and versatile performer, Timmy has held positions in several prestigious youth ensembles. He is currently a member of the Hannaford Youth Band under Anita McAlister and plays in the University of Toronto Wind Symphony, conducted by Pratik Gandhi. He has previously performed with the Ontario Provincial Honour Band (2022–2024) and the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (2021–2024), where he gained exposure to advanced repertoire under the leadership of Colin Clarke.

In addition to tuba, Timmy also plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar, trombone, and alto saxophone. He studies tuba with Jennifer Stephen of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and Sal Fratia of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. Dedicated to refining his artistry and expanding his musical horizons, Timmy looks forward to a vibrant future in music performance and education.
